Revising maths help

When studying from the book when making notes is there any point copying formulas as nothing is been learned? Is it best to create questions to test myself to see if I still know it after reading it? What should I make notes on?

For courses such as C1 C2 etc. it may be okay just to copy out the formulae for notes, but for a formula that can't easily be worked out from first principles or remembered, it may be a good idea to write out worked examples.
The best revision, in my opinion, is completing past papers anyway!
