well I live in manchester so don't reallly wanna stay haha :frown: and yeah i went to bristol for an open day in july or whenever it was - it was reallly nice and the earth sciences buidling is lovely but dunno just think i'd be a bit bored there and the fact the accomodation was like 40 minutes away really put me off :frown:

Thanks for the super detailed answer haha. Those are my two favourites so I sort of don't want my only chance of getting in to be the more competitive international one. Think I'll apply to both at UCL. I've already got my results (A*AA) so do you think Leeds would offer me a place on the BSc course if I applied for the MGeol/international one and they didn't want me/didn't have places?

If you already have results like that then I'd definitely apply for only the international course at UCL. In that kind of circumstance if they don't let you
in for that course I don't think they'd let you in for the BSc course either! Just make sure your statement is all good and striking - you'll be fine.

I don't know, I just maybe feel applying to the same place twice is small waste of a choice. The department at UCL will also notice you've applied there twice, too.

Offer from Leicester  3 offers from Leeds, UCL and Leicester - waiting on Bristol and Imperial now!

Congrats on the offer. Yeah that's pretty much it in a nutshell, as long as the course is accredited there isn't a great deal to worry about.

Are you from Derry city or county? Can I ask if you applied for any of the universities in the republic?

Edinburgh, along with most of the Scottish universities are notorious for taking ages to reply, or at least they used to be. My brother applied there and didn't hear back until around March time. I applied to Dundee and never heard back until April.

Best just not to worry about it and focus on getting the grades, if you have no offers but get good grades worst case scenario is you take a gap year and reapply.

Im from the city myself, I havent nah cos i dont do 4 a levels. Oh ok i was just checking how long each uni was taking just wanted to be sure.

Ah lol true, that's what I was thinking about Bristol's accomplish, it seems so far away. But I'll still go and see it. I think I might potentially go to UCL the way it's going.

Good luck! It was really nice. The lectures were really nice, and the students really recommended the uni a lot. The interview was really casual. It would be hard to mess up. You just need to know why Manchester and why geology. And make sure you have done outside reading.

Hey, just wondering, where are you likely to firm at the moment? We only have two in common, UCL and Birmingham. And when did you get invited to UCL?

Really like the look of UCL and its reputation is making it hard to turn down but I'll see how I feel after the open day, it's likely to be my firm  I got the invite on 29th November which was a few days after I got my offer.
Insurance is most likely between Leicester and Cardiff, what are you thinking at the minute in the way of firm and insurance?

I'm still waiting to find out when the open day is for me. Been a few days since the offer and nothing yet.

Lol it's cool.

Thats cool, I think I will firm UCL too but I'm going to look when I get my invitation for an open day, got an offer on Monday. I think Manchester or Bristol will be my insurance, unless I don't really like UCL, which I doubt.

Im im only waiting for Durham, which I don't care about so I'm thinking about where I want to go now.

I'm sure they'll be in touch soon, think next Wednesday would probably be too short notice now so they might offer you the next one they have but who knows!

It's going to be a lonely day because my parents are at work so I have to go on my own! Hoping there will be others on their own so I'll have to put my best socialising skills into play! Haha
