Lancaster Uni non drinkers freshers 2013.

Hello I have noticed that fresher's is catered towards drinking and clubbing. But on the whole this is not my scene and am wondering if anybody else feels the same way. Thought it would be good to set up a thread to gather

Drinking and clubs does look like the typical theme I must admit, however I'm sure there will be plenty of other opportunities to get to know each other and be social! I very rarely drink and definitely don't want to be getting blind drunk to make a fool of myself, but I feel it is possible to go to these events and enjoy them without the need for a hard drink... Let's bust out the panda pops and pom bears, we'll make this a party scene yet! (I mean it is a fresh start to reinvent ourselves, is it not?)

Saying that, I would also enjoy a calmer atmosphere with a spot of tea!

From what I've heard, there's non-drinking freshers activities organised pretty much every night, so you shouldn't feel left out

I don't usually drink too much, though I'll have a few if I'm out and don't mind other people drinking (self-righteous non-drinkers who think it makes them in some way superior are the worst, I'm afraid). I just don't like the feeling of being really drunk, and I like being able to function the next day!

Hopefully there'll be something for everyone.

There are lots of events that involve drinking/clubbing etc. But that's because for majority of 18/19 year olds drinking, dancing and socialising in general is a good way to meet people! Personally I won't be drinking much. Some people make a fool of themselves when they are totally wasted, and I don't think that'll appeal to new people:facepalm:

Hello  glad this is a thread! I am similar to others on this thread, I don't mind a few drinks but I don't care if I don't. I also enjoy chilled out nights watching films, TV etc so yeah :P

Hi! I'm so glad to have found this thread. I'm just like you - few drinks are fine, but I have no intention of getting really wasted. I'd like to socialise with people from my college during freshers' week, but we could meet up one day!
I wish I had found a thread like this when I first started (I'm going into my second year now). There were (and will be) alternatives but these events aren't publicised as much so you have to look out for information. It made freshers week a bit awkward for me as I'm not a drinker.

I'm like this too, a little but not too much to drink.

I don't like too much drinking because it can ruin my sports timetables, workout gains and PR goals.

I am up for drinking a few nights as it'll probably be a good way to meet new people, but every single event seems to be alcohol-orientated and i really don't fancy a whole week of that :P

I'll be going easy on the booze. Getting wasted doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.
Hello, i am not a drinker myself- do you want to meet up during freshers and do something non-drinking related?
Hi guys. Freshers is fast approaching! Don't forget your Lancaster Barnardos society. We'll be happy to meet you at the freshers fair .

Hi  so it seems that a few people would be up to having a meetup in freshers week which I think could be good for us to socialise and meet other like minded people  if anyone has any ideas or thinks this is a good idea then let me know!

Sure why not, it'd probably be easier to make plans once we get there and know a little about the place maybe
