GCSE Computing or ICT?

I'm about to take my options for GCSE, I'm currently achieving decent levels in ICT but am really interested in computing and engineering, any ideas?

Generally your GCSE choices aren't going to make a huge impact in the long term, so the most important thing is to pick subjects you're going to enjoy, as well as making sure they meet the requirements for the A levels you might take.

Personally I'd pick computing over ICT in a heartbeat, as it stands I've done a GCSE in neither. I'm doing my computing A level now and I did a DiDA course in ICT at my secondary school, and in my experience, computing is by far the more interesting, useful and respected discipline.

Computing. It's more fun imo and teaches u more and is regarded better than ICT.

Avoid ICT at all costs, it is absolutely terrible.

Computing, if you find it more interesting, go for it! Though I have heard its harder, but if you're already doing it then you should probably know that already. Computing is also a better regarded GCSE than ICT. I do ICT and its not nice  Used to be really good at it in KS3, now the subject is horrible/boring. I would gladly drop it if I could :yep: its compulsory and I'm always dreading the lesson.

ICT was the worst thing I ever had to do. Two pieces of coursework both about 90 pages long and an exam that was terribly mundane. I'd really advise against it, I hated it before GCSE and hated it even more during it

90 pages EACH  All the work I've done probably adds up to around 40 pages max, if that

Yeah haha, made me so sad  ah well! I actually disliked it more than maths, and that's saying something coming from me
Neither are great, ICT is the worst of the two. But as others are saying, from the perspective of university admissions, the choice doesn't really matter.
Computing

It's just not regarded as a particularly accommodating subject - it's too specialised. Other subjects like languages and humanities teach you things that have a huge number of applications and will be generally useful in life in general, whereas computing simply isn't. Additionally, most of the skills you learn in computing will be provided as on-the-job training or at University (if required), so it's not really necessary.

That doesn't mean it's not 'good', it just means it's not as highly respected as, for instance, History.
But I must say computing is hard

is it one of those 'soft' subjects
Universities really won't care about the difference between GCSE ICT and Computing, although at A Level, Computing is more well respected than ICT.

Thanks guys, think i'll probably take computing!
I would say computing. Though I, personally, take neither, I know people who do computing and ICT. Many people took ICT because they thought it would be an easier subject, but it wasn't the case (due to the volume of content needing to be learnt) and now most of them hate it.

Take computing, it has more real world applications.
My school have given me the option to change from gcse computing to ict...what do you think I should do?
