Purely as a point of interest, a lady I work with has a son, Oxford educated, who's a partner at Linklaters at 34 years old!!!!!!! 34!?!?!?! Just shows how well you can do if you work for it.

34 is not that young to be a junior partner.

I could never work ridiculously long hours [for a short time and every now and again would be fine, but not all the time], I'm far too concerned with socialising and having a good time. I don't plan to change either, as lazy and spoilt as that may sound.
Each to their own mate, everyone is different, but you know what they say: "work hard, play hard!!" ... thats what I intend to do.
There was an interesting article in the Observer yesterday on a related topic, which is worth a read: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/uk_ne...859329,00.html

In response to this article i would like to question her decision to actually work there in the 1st place. did she actually know about the MAD hours. imo it wd just suck the life out of most ppl unless u like it that way and have no social life.

To be fair, I think TopCat06 was actually quoting my post and commenting on it. I did think it was funny how the writer said that during her internship the hours weren't too bad, only 13-14 hours a day - that really should have been a warning!

I don't think he was actually quoting you, because the way he phrases the opening line is as though he is introducing said article as a new piece to discuss.

It's only that I think those are the words I used... the poster is quite new and maybe doesn't know about the quote function? Anyway, it IS an interesting article and they say that imitation is the best form of flattery!

sorry if it seemed as though i was imitating what you were saying but i'm new to this service so i didn't notice the quote toobar functions. Anyways, in these kind of jobs do they actually state that u're going to work for 'sweatshop' like hours in the job description.
