Hey what about Cambridge??

Cambridge is fantastic but requires A*AA so unless that's what you're predicted it's a tough one to get in on unfortunately :frown:

I'm a cellist and also diploma standard…nearly (although haven't actually taken exam yet - I'm working on it!) I'm applying to Durham, Nottingham, Bristol, Edinburgh and Newcastle if that's any help

Because I'm applying with the grades already as I got my results in August so I know I have the academic requirements, plus all the courses look really good! Particularly like the one at nottingham - it may be my first choice but haven't decided yet!

Hi! Everyone.

I am also a GCE AL student from Hong Kong.

Awarded an A in ATCL Recital Piano performance, ABRSM theory Grade 5

GCE AS an A in both Music and French, a B in English.

My principal predicted my AL an A in Music, French, Maths, Phys, a B for English.
[May he is too generous : ) ]

I will apply UK universities via UCAS, but totally not knowing if my choice is good. Please kindly give me your ideas for the universities listed below, or any other suggestions:

(1) Newcastle Uni, (2) Sheffield Uni (3) Leeds Uni (4)Queen's Mary Belfast (5) Cardiff Uni

As I will only be 16 yr-old in 2015 entry, some universities (and all conservatoires) have rejected my application (age limit of them are mostly 17/18 yr-old). Besides the coming AL exams, I am now preparing Grade 8 exam of organ while learing composition.

Very deep interest about early music and composition.

Pleae give me some hints

Hi
If I were you I'd just wait another year and go to a top conservatoire like the royal college or academy. Or do one of their foundation/gap year programmes.
If you are desperate to go to uni in 2015 out of the choices you have made, they are all good but I would potentially put leeds before Newcastle, but go and look round them.

Thanks helen96. Yes, I would rather join uni in 2015 entry than have a gap year. Leeds? In what way you find it is better than newcastle? Pls give me further opinions.

have a good day.

I just prefer the course at Leeds as it is BMus. Also has a slightly higher reputation I think. Plus I have a friend studying music there and is loving it. I was going to apply for Newcastle but I substituted it for york. Why not consider Edinburgh? It is top in the league tables this year for music and they go to uni a year younger in Scotland so you wouldn't be much younger than anyone else?
