Hello again fellow Whovian  My interview is on Friday, and in the remotest chance I get an offer, is it specified that the A* must be in History ?

Hi, there! No, my letter says that the offer grades can be 'in any order', which means less pressure. Good luck with your interview!

Hi! I've been pooled to Murray Edwards too (and had a similar worry at first) but I am ridiculously excited. Especially because one of the HSPS fellows specialises in exactly what I want to do! Are there many of us on here, or not?
Anyone got an interview at Murray Edwards on friday?

Good luck for your interview! What subject is it for?
Just found this thread. I was given an offer on Sunday morning for MML (2014 entry). Don't know the conditions yet.

I'm considering turning it down because I was pressured into applying to Cambridge and I'm worried about meeting my offer and about the workload when I get there. :/ not good.

A fellow historian! My offer is A*AA, so I imagine it will be the same.

History! Hopefully, and in any order, which is helpful :P is anyone else going to the offer-holders 12th-13th fandango?

So helpful. I'd hate to be sat in an exam thinking, 'this has to be an A*'. Yes, are you?

Yes! Oh thank Christ, I'll vaguely know someone. Do you have any idea what we'll be doing there? I assume there'll be touring and whatnot...

Aha, I have no idea. On the letter, it says that there's an opportunity to see your Faculty and have a 'formal' dinner in the Dome.
Offerholders - what happens

You'll be hosted by a current first year student. They will meet up, welcome you, look after you, get you all in the right place/time for formal dinner (not ball gown formal, anything from dresses, suits, and basically not jeans and trainers will be fine). The current students will most likely have a gown but you won't need one as you're basically their guest, and gowns are also restricted to members of the University.

There are probably some welcoming speeches at dinner. Do let them know if you have any allergies/dietary requirements, presumably this is on the form that you have to return. They will find something that you can eat, unless you have very strict dietary requirements, in which case still get in touch and ask if you can provide your own food. It's a 3 course meal. If you haven't been to one before, just copy everyone around you (you won't be the only one, and no one will notice.)

After dinner, hang out with your host/friends of hosts and other offerholders. When I came for offerholders we actually went out, but don't feel you have to (some people presumably can't yet).

The next day, you shadow your host. No fixed schedule since each host would have a different schedule! Some might have lectures, some might have supervisions, some might have practicals (p.s. bio NatScis, you're in for a treat!) and hopefully you get a sense of how many things you can do/there are to do, and see what it is like to be an undergrad at Cambridge.

For most hosts Wednesday will be the last day of lectures for that term as well, so they won't be too stressed (hopefully) from work. Do ask your host/people you meet in college about anything that you want to find out about being at the College, doing your degree, and being at Cambridge. Most of them would have remembered being an offerholder themselves last year and will be more than happy to help.

Hope this helps!
Got an offer yesterday from Murray Edwards after being pooled and going to interview.

I think so. Where do you find out the details? My offer paperwork isn't coming for another few weeks apparently
If you look up, selkie222 has written a long message explaining it all. Mine hasn't come either, don't worry. It's on the 12th-13th March, that's all I really know.

I'm a HSPSer from the pool too! Finally got my letter and UCAS track updated today, I was beginning to wonder if I'd imagined the phone call...

For anyone who has an offer to study at Murray Edwards College this October 2013, I have just set up the offerholders facebook page so you can get to know each other (I am the Access Officer at the college). Enjoy!

Hi, I have a question on the first year accommodation - do we get a choice in which room we get? The room allocations document thingy on the website suggests that the first years get whatever rooms are left, and are 'usually allocated en suites'. However, I was hoping to be able to choose a nice, cheap room near a kitchen of some kind :s-smilie: Will we be given the option to pick our preferred room type?
Thanks
