gap year apprehension

hey guys ive been looking at doing a gap year now for a while and have been looking on all these gap year sites which seem ridiculously expensive, would you suggest going through one of these or going it alone and seeing whtat happens? cheers

I think it depends on where you're going. For example, I'm going to south America alone because I think I can stay safe alone and will hopefully meet people there. However when/if I go to India I will go with an organised trip (most likely plan my gap year and/or intrepid travel).

There are good and bad arguments for going alone or with others, it's up to what you would prefer and how comfortable you'll feel alone.
