being CEO of Microsoft is probably one of the top paying jobs...as would be holding a similar position in most multinationals.
The more important thing is your ability to do a job and hence be promoted to higher positions, but the examples you have suggested are traditionally seen as well paid, although not necessarily when you start - especially there in the case of surgeons.

IMO, the good money is in finance.

Hmm, yeah I agree, but ending up in those top positions involve an element of luck, particularly in finance and often have the potential to earn big when your young then dry up as you get older. I was wondering what kind of job, attainable by a student leaving school with good grades.
Law, IB, Consultancy, Private Doctors.
Investment Banking is generally the highest paying job from the start I would say.

Law can pay well as can Accountancy (the big 4 pay the most in general I would assume).

However, on the rough I would say THE biggest paying law firms and I think all IBs are based in London.

Medicine is good of course but it takes years of extra work to see the reuslts.

There are laods of other jobs that don't get mentioned much - general management schemes and mroe specialist stuff in design and science.
