I'm going to be a mature student (27) studying Sports Therapy. Is there pressure to go out drinking? I don't drink, and I have other reaponsibilities such as a house and a mortgage.
I want to fit in as best as I can and make new friends but feel I will be isolated due to the fact that I don't drink and won't be able to socialise the same way as everyone else, along with my age.

Are there many mature students? I'm 28, and I've been accepted to study nutrition and exercise science, but I'm so nervous about going back to uni and being surrounded by 18 year olds and feeling completely out of the loop!

I'm 27 doing Sports Therapy and have the same worries :-)

Uclan has plenty of clubs and society who would be like minded in regards to drinking there's plenty of things to do round Preston that don't involve drinking

I think we'll be okay - that's what I'm telling myself anyway! When I was looking round the campus there seemed to be a fair few older students, and my course leader told me they had a 63 year old on the course last year.

As for not wanting to drink much, I'm the same, and I've noticed a few people make similar comments, so you won't be alone in that either

Which Liberty - Court or Village?
We spoke to Tracey who was, as you say, very helpful. However, when my daughter went to visit, the security guard was not at all friendly or helpful. Despite Tracy promising us security would be expecting my daughter, (she could only visit on a weekend), and would give her a tour and a goody bag, this turned out not to be the case. She only saw the front door and was told by the guy that if she did not have a room booking she was not getting in. This was Liberty Village. On the same day, she went down to Warehouse Appts (unannounced), and was made to feel very welcome indeed. In the end she has booked with Warehouse because it felt to my daughter to be in a much nicer and quieter area and everyone just seemed more friendly. It is also next to Pendle which was where she would have gone had she been allocated a room there through Uclan. Not to say anything bad about Tracey at Liberty though because on the phone she was really really helpful. I think in the end, panic and confusion over where is good/bad etc just got too much, so for better or worse, she booked Warehouse. Hopefully she will get in early for a studio next year.

Liberty Village I think, I rang Warehouse too, and they were fab, the only reason I didn't go there in the end was I would have to share with more people, and I'm a bit older and like my space. I'm sure your daughter will do fine, and as you say, everything is just a year, I'm eyeing up the studios for myself next year too!

Hi, do you know how many students are on the September intake for mental health nursing and how big the groups are? I also have a disability and wondering what kind of evidence they require for the occupational health check

Thank you

Hi, I firmed my place for sexual health studies . I'm an international student and I'm currently considering which accommodation to apply for since I want a spacious room and a place close to school , like a walking distance . Thanks

Moor lane and walker street are all very close, personally I d say moor lane is spacious and cheap but all worth looking into depending on what room you d like. The uni owned Harrington is the utter closest but you can't be guaranteed it you can always ask though.

thank god for a thread like this - don't have twitter hence why asking here

Am 21 years old first time going to start uni; extremely nervous making new friends (don't have as much)...am 1 hour away from uni therefore will travel 30 min's in train or car at times depends...
would this affect me in terms of making new friends as some may be at the accommodation halls or already live in Preston...how is welcome week like in terms of meeting/making new friends from the same background (not to be disrespectful)?
thank u
