Sussex Postgraduate

I am really interested in the Gender & Media taught MA at Sussex but wondering if any Sussex postgrads could answer these questions:

1. What is the wider postgrad community like?
2. Do they offer postgrad accomodation/help finding private housing with other postgrads
3. If you happen to be in a course under the Film & Media dept, whats that like?
4. What about Brighton as a city?
5. Would you reccomend the university? Why?
Sussex is a campus Uni - and its relatively small. This means there is a very strong community feel on campus, and it feels quite villagey. Brighton is a fabulous place to be a student - arty, quirky and a bit bohemian. And its by the seaside, and only 50 mins train ride to London. Most people who go to Sussex stay in Brighton afterwards and have very fond memories of the Uni.

As with doing postgrad anywhere, its a different experience to being an undergrad - you have to make a real effort to 'be involved', its otherwise very easy to just go to your classes, not do anything else on campus - and wonder why you feel totally disconnected. So, get emails and phone numbers of your course mates on day 1 and make sure you arrange times to meet up and socialise. Join in anything on campus that seems interesting (lots!) and talk to people in the library and on other courses.

Phone the accom office about accommodation - or if you want to join in an existing flatshare, this is a good place to look : http://student.spareroom.co.uk/

Hope you had a great time there - I did!
