The Student Room Group

Applied - Accepted- What next?

Ok so I applied for 5 universities, all of them accepted me but I accepted 1 through UCAS so all is good on the ucas front.

What now.............?

Should I be expecting letters?

When do I register with my university or had UCAS done that for me?

When will I receive my student finance?

Will Student Finance be paid in instalments or in full?

Why have I been given no information about anything at all that is remotely relevant to my life???

If you are waiting for exam results then you will hear more from UCAS and the University at that point.

If you are not waiting for exam results then the next you will hear from the University is the formal instructions about enrolment, and your first week time-table etc. You wont get this until late August as all Uni do one big mailout after everyone has got their results. Most of this will arrive by email - keep checking your spam folder.

If you need Uni/student accommodation you should have received emails from your Firm Uni about this - contact the Accommodation Office if you haven't.

For Student Finance, *you* need to apply through the Student Finance website - https://www.gov.uk/student-finance/overview That will also have all the info about installments etc.

There are are also other things *you* need to do like getting your vaccinations up to date, getting your teeth checked and gathering appropriate possessions together to take to University. The University will not tell you or remind you to do any of this. Advice here http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/content.php?r=15477-guide-to-before-you-go-to-university and http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/content.php?r=15855-what-to-take-to-university-checklist

Please note, at University you are considered an adult and will have to find things out and do things for yourself. You might like to get some practice of this 'taking responsibility' stuff now as otherwise you are going to find leaving home a nasty shock.
