Students on campus during summer break?

Hello,

I am a Masters student from Australia traveling to Oxford for short term thesis research from Jun - Aug this year. I will be researching and living on campus for Jun/July, a conference in July and a short summer course in Aug. Is the campus generally quiet during the summer break? I am hoping there will still be other students to chat to and still have some form of nightlife for the evenings to unwind! Any suggestions on settling in and places to go would be great.

There will be DPhil (PhD) students but very few Oxford students at a lower level are around in the summer. It definitely felt a lot quieter as an undergrad staying over the summer. The colleges tend to fill up with summer schools (and conferences), so there will be people to socialise with, if the thought of theatrical Americans doesn't fill you with dread.

If you're staying at a graduate college, it'll probably feel less quiet because a larger percentage of the student body will still be around in the summer.
Its pretty quiet, on the whole.
I really hope my uni that I am going to, has a chance to stay at campus during the summer. I hate living at home lmao.
There are a lot of summer school students and students of tutorial centres. Along with the tourists, they make Oxford very busy instead of quiet. At the same time, the colleges that are farther out from the touristy places tend to be grad colleges. Apart from DPhil candidates, two-year master's students will also be there.

Keep in mind Oxford is not a 'campus university' so whether the 'campus' is quiet depends on whether the city is. And the city isn't. Christmas is the only time of the year when the city gets quiet.
