well last year when I took the exam and looked at them for the first time I obviously basically almost couldn't solve anything 😂
Then when they released the paper in spring I did a couple of questions and posted them in the solutions thread but for some like one part B question it took me like 1-2 hours
And then and I did the rest last month, and there were actually 2 (the one with N circles and the recursion Integral cos^n ones) I couldn't solve and looked at the solutions and the rest I solved (but again, the one with squares in the triangle I've been trying since spring so some took ages)

I feel like a huge part of CSAT is chosing the right questions

How many questions did you manage to answer from each section when you did the paper on last year's cycle?

During the actual exam? I'd say 2 full ones in A (and basically no partials) and 1 full one in B plus 2 partials
After that CSAT, I might as well not bother with the interviews. Gutted.
Hi everyone!

I've been quite inactive on TSR for quite some time now but as I need all the help and advice I can get, I might as well start talking.

I am in Yr 12 right now and looking to apply for CompSci this Sept/Oct. My GCSE results (albeit not massively important) were 2 - 9's, 3 - 8's, 2 - A*'s and 4 - 7's. Based on those, my target grades from school are Math - A*, FM - A*, Physics - A, Economics - A. I chose not to take CS at A level as universites including Cambridge don't require it and I code in my own personal time. Maths I've got covered. Rn I just need to buckle down and prepare for mocks in three months, and planning to sit my Maths A-level early this year. Pleasure to be here.

Congrats to everyone who got offers, you've done amazingly well and I hope to be in your position next year!
Is there much in the way of printing required for CompscI? I'm wondering if it's worth bringing a printer. Cheers.

Not in my experience. For supervision work you will generally either handwrite and hand in physically, handwrite scan and email, or write electronically and email; most supervisors will then print it out and give you a marked physical copy although a few mark electronically. If you want physical lecture notes, the department provides them for all courses AFAIK. On the rare occasions where you do need to print something, both your college library and the department will have printers.

THANKS!!
Hi I wanted to know which is better to take:
I know im definitely choosing Computer Science and Mathematics at A Levels
But not sure about the third option.
Do I choose:
a) Further Maths (think this will be too hard)
b) History
c) Law
d) Economics (school doesn't do it, but may do it as private)
What do you think?

Further maths. If that's too hard, unfortunately you might need to consider if Cambridge computer science will be too hard.

But some colleges will probably still let you in with a different a level. They'd probably prefer that other subject to be physics or another science then the ones you mentioned.
I am keen to apply to the university of cambridge for engineering or computer science next year.

could anyone explain the difference between applying for computer science at Cambridge Vs Engineering with Information and Computer Engineering specialism . I suspect the engineering admission process may be less competitive than computer science. what is the difference between the two tests ENGAA v CTMUA? could anyone explain the differences between the courses.
