Good point, going to put that work hard action into play. My point is - life is easier when the person leading assembly is easy on the eye

I know who to avoid on the induction day 💀💀💀

Hello, I also got an offer. Did you see the email where we are invited to a trip to the parliament? The headteacher seems to actually care about students and education - just wants students to do well. Just hard to pick a 6th form because the have such different atmospheres. Y12s how would you describe it? Studious? Chilled?

If u don’t mind me asking, what grades are u on track to get

Latymer probably. I’ll see. The Barnet (and surrounding areas) grammars are quite dry but give you the grades and destinations you need.
How was the taster day ppl?

HCS seems less academic to me and they seem less on it with emails. ICS seems really good, the interview was challenging though. I was asked like degree level questions about my essay lol. The offer holder induction was really good, they got professors from UCL in.

Hello. I went to the open evening today. It sounds amazing. How hard is it to get in? If you get the grades, are you guaranteed a place? I wonder if current students have any idea.
Does anyone know the main differences between ICS and NCS aside from location? How are they similar and are they at all different?

1.

Not guaranteed a place

2.

Quite competitive as the cohort is small, but not in the way you’d think. Straight 9 students were rejected. I can’t speak for the staff, but I believe they’re (roughly) looking for intellectual curiosity, ambition, and altruism.

NCS is older, more formal, and has a track record. ICS is new, hasn’t got the same track record (albeit students got into elite universities this year, including Oxbridge and LSE) and is still under construction.

ICS is much smaller and NCS is huge, but less personalised.

Standards are met across the COLA Trust: we even do the same mock exams and go on trips together!

TLDR: similar yet different

I’ve never heard of NCS in all honesty but have heard COLAHH - ICS is a good option in the North London area.

It’s great if its linked to ncs as they have good results but FRFR it’s on the other side of London

From what i can gather it seems there is a lot of investment in terms of opportunities and staff time. I heard they are going to Switzerland and offer US trips etc. in addition to a lot of external programmes. I like the idea that they are less specialist to make you excel across the board through different projects to develop skills.

It seems not many people know about it and they are keeping it small which makes it harder to research.

1:1 meetings for prospective students are soon. Any tips?

Good luck! Small for now but increasing.

Advice:

1.

Show your intellectual curiosity

2.

Highlight what you’d be like as a peer

3.

Make your aims clear

Generally speaking, be yourself the very best version of yourself.

Also, if you wrote an essay, look over it!!

Good luck!
