My dog has figured out how to open the baby gate

I installed a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs to prevent my dog going upstairs during the day, he is still quite young. However I thought I had been accidentally leaving the gate open as I saw him comming downstairs a few times. It turns out he has actually been opening the gate he knows how to do it : /. I thought I was having memory problems and forgetting to close it.

Even my dad struggled to do it the first time when he came round

Strong elastic cord or gaffa tape to stop 'Houdini'

Get a partner/friend to wait patiently to see when he does it and get them to shout 'No' if he tries to open the gate - Reward him when the he leaves the gate alone and distract with a chew in a basket or designated dog den.

Have you figured out how he is opening it?

I had a cat who could open the hook lock on my bedroom door. I watched him once to figure out how he was doing it (jumping up onto the banister and using his nose to push the hook up) then replaced it with a different type of lock.
