Applying for a conservation or environment related masters online

Hi, I have a BSc in Animal Biology, and 3 years of a mix of paid and voluntary work in the field, but have been unemployed for over 18 months now due to health issues. I am on the up, and so am looking to continue my studies, but am having to weigh up the pros and cons of an online masters in this subject. I feel I will attain a lot more academically by studying online, though I fear that by not physically attending a university for such a practical field I will be shooting myself in the foot? I am currently a volunteer for a local wildlife rescue and am also planning on undertaking some online short courses before enrolling in a masters, and will continue as much relevant work as I can manage alongside study... does this sound like a sensible plan?
