Does Human Biology count as having a gcse in SCIENCE when applying for PGCE?

So when you apply for primary PGCE teacher training, you need Maths and English GCSE, PLUS gcse science.

However, it doesn't state what science you need.

Biology? Chemistry? Physics? Double Science? (Which is most common)

However, what if you don't have any of those BUT do have IGCSE human biology.

Does that count?

In the UK, GCSE Science is all three biology, chemistry and physics (usually double award which is 2 GCSEs of the same grade for all, or triple which is all three with individual grades). I would say, for primary where you are expected to teach children all of the science topics, that they'd be looking for a qualification that covers all of them. However, I'd get in contact with your chosen PGCE supplier to check as I'm a secondary teacher, so not 100% sure.
