Struggling to find jobs?

I feel burnt out and I'm very stressed. I require skilled worker visa for jobs but I'm getting interview invites but the moment the topic of sponsorship comes up, they don't go ahead.

I was almost offered a role but as soon as the question of CoS came up, the position was offered to someone else, keeping me as a backup.
However, they went ahead with the other applicant and didn't even inform me even though I reached out.

I have only 5 months left and I'm very stressed.

How do I go about this?

Have you considered talking about this before you go to interview? Once you go for an interview both parties are somewhat invested but the employer has their expectations and generally speaking sponsoring someone from outside the UK is not within those expectations probably because they don't actually know the process and perceive it to be difficult and red tape intensive. Much easier to employ a worse candidate from the UK.

Another tack you could take is to apply for jobs through an agent. There will be employers who have already gone through the process of employing overseas nationals and will know the process. These are the places you need to target and recruitment agents will know who they are.

Just a thought.

I have. But I was not offered the role simply because of this. They liked me in the interview and I almost got the role until they heard about visa sponsorship but refused to go ahead with me even though the universitys HR assistant said there is a possibility.
Can you recommend some good agencies?

I ve tried some but they don't have employers who sponsor

Sorry - I don't know. Also, different agencies will target different job markets. What jobs are you going for?

I have university based research administration and project coordination experience so mostly at unis for similar roles like project coordinator, research admin, research finance officer etc.
Landing interviews but the sponsorship is causing hurdles

Ok - so by the sounds of is, with respect, this isn't too specialised and no doubt there are plenty of British people who are also applying these jobs. It is therefore easier for the employer to hire British rather than jump through hoops for you. There is also a moral issue of providing employment to British people before overseas people. Perhaps your solution would be to seek employment in areas of the economy where there are a shortage of British workers?

I didnt study sciences so it's virtually impossible to get a job there.
In research services, usually they have few applicants but I don't know if I can get it anywhere

You might therefore need to consider a plan B I'm afraid.

Time to start thinking then. It would seem there is a chance you won't have a job by the time your accommodation runs out. You will have to do something. Better do it on your own terms rather than wait for events to make decisions for you.

Good luck!

All I can say is that if you do nothing and hope that a job you may well not get turns up, events will take over your situation. Are there other countries you can work?

you need to focus your search on companies that already can sponsor your visa. not just any company can do that.

I have but they all seem to have their own rules. Even if there is a possibility of visa sponsorship, they choose not to

I know. The problem is you aren't getting those jobs because you don't have a work visa. A solution, although not the only solution is to apply for jobs in a country for which you do have a work permit no?

Or widen your search to include companies that do employ and sponsor overseas workers as per the post above?

So maybe you work for two years whilst continuing to try and find something more permanent? Come on - you need to start thinking for yourself!

oh ok. just thought i'd mention it cuz i know someone who was applying to just any ol' job listing, but it's pointless applying to places who are not on the list. if they aren't on the list they have to first apply for a licence from UK immigration office before they even think of seriously hiring, and then UK immigration must check out their workplace to make sure it's suitable for sponsoring foreigners, and then if they think of hiring you they have to justify to the UK immigration why they must hire you and not a permanent UK resident. like, it's just not going to happen. anyway, i can imagine your frustration, especially when it must also be for specific jobs. you can't just get sponsored answering phones or flipping burgers.
