are you in year 13?
No - you have to meet all entry requirements
If you are in clearing, and calling universities, they may be more lenient with their entry requirements

Why don't universities state their entry requirements as 'AAA or A*AB' since they seem equivalent
It depends on the university, I would strongly recommend contacting the admissions team, as some universities actually want you to achieve higher, while some tend to be more lenient with their offers.

In terms of UCAS points, they are equivalent. But so is A*A*C. Universities may want you to do well across all 3 subjects, not super good is 2 and not as good in 1

Yes but that does not make much sense, especially if the 3rd subject is completely unrelated to the degree.

Top Unis - those asking for A grades - will make offers in grades not UCAS points.

If you are applying with predicted grades lower than the entry requirements, some Unis may make you an offer - but remember you still have to achieve the offer grades next August. Its risky - only have 1 or your 5 choices like this.

If you are applying with achieved grades its very risky - because the Unis know you cannot 'improve' your grades like you could with predicted grades - and they may not be interested, especially ots its a popular / competitive subject.
