Hey I have been having lots of doubts recently about whether to peruse a career in medicine or not. I do chemistry, biology and psychology at a level and I don’t have any concerns about grades it’s more what the degree actually entails. My interests lie mostly in chemistry at the moment but I am unsure of what careers there are available in that sector that would earn a good living other than medicine. I have done some work experience in medical sectors and it seems to be something I’d want to do but the idea of histology and other aspects of the degree is putting me off… I’d be grateful for any advice and knowledge about medicine or other chemistry careers available. Thankyou
Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.
The Medicine forum gets a high volume of questions being posted, and some of these are already answered by the resources and Megathreads that members of the community and volunteers have created. This is an automatic post which is designed to highlight these resources. Below is a list of threads and articles that could answer your question (you should be looking in the original post of the megathreads). If one of the below threads is a more relevant place to ask your question, please post a reply in that thread to ask your question. If your query is answered by one of the Megathreads or articles linked below, and you would like us to close this thread for you, please reply to this thread with just the words "thank you". A member of our team will then get it locked.

You don't like histology- to be fair, not many people do. Some people actually really like it though. It has it's place though, the same as any other part of the medical curriculum. In reality it isn't that difficult to learn a reasonable bit about because it is very visual.
Please do not chase a medical career if your sole interest is in earning large sums of money. You can earn nearly 100K a year driving a tube train in London. Though I cannot say for certain how stressful that job is or how onerous it is gaining entry to that vocation I do know how onerous medicine can be.
If you like chemistry then possibly some of the biochemical, pharmacology or physiology sides to medicine will be right up your street.
