Hiya - hoping to start in Cardiff in Sept and study Optometry - can you recommend student halls that are near to School of Optometry and Vision and/ or where most students studying this course are likely to live? Thanks🙂

Hiya!

Congrats on your offer! The School of Optometry and Vision is relatively well located in Cathays. Any options close to Cathays would be good depending on your budget, Colum Hall, Sengehedd Hall, and Student Houses would be good to look into. The Talybont accommodations are a 20-minute ish walk and a lot of first-years live there. Hope that helps.

Hii, i’ve received an offer for econ but haven’t been able to make it to any of Cardiff’s open events. So, I was just wondering if it would be best to go to a campus tour or if i would be invited to an offer holder day.
Hi there,

Congratulations on your offer!

I'm unsure if you will receive an offer as I don't have access to that information. However, campus tours are very helpful for getting an insight into where you will be spending much of your time as a student here. If you can make it, then I'd definitely recommend it regardless.

I'm sorry that I can't help more.

All the best,

Hi, I just wanted to know when I might receive an email offering me the opportunity to go to an offer holder day? I'd really like to go now that I've been offered a place in the ancient history course, but I want to know when it will be so that I can plan around it. I really hope I haven't missed it, but every other uni is holding them in February/March, so I doubt it's much different. Sorry if this is a silly question, it's probably just the anxiety kicking in and causing me to worry too much.

Hi, no worries, it's absolutely not a silly question! It depends school to school, so I wouldn't be able to give you a specific answer 🙂 and some schools do multiple offer holder days! I would suggest contacting your course department - School of History, Archaeology and Religion at: [email protected] for when open days are. I'm sure they'd be happy to let you know! You definitely wouldn't have missed it, as all offer holders would be sent an email about this

Hi, just received an offer for MSci in Computer Science. I was wondering when the next offer holder day or open day is as well as what the nearest accommodation would be.

Hi there,

Congratulations on your offer! Unfortunately, I don't have access to the offer holder dates but you should be getting emails letting you know - if not, I'd recommend emailing your academic school.

Regarding accommodation, you'd be located on Senghennydd Road in Cathays. This means that Senghennydd accommodations or Student houses would be a good option - however, non of them are more than a 30-ish minute walk away but make sure to double check!

Hi I've been offered a place at Cardiff for child nursing and haven't gotten any emails about an offer holder day. Is there a specific date for nursing students/ health care students that we'll be emailed about or are they not hosting an offer holder day?

Hi! Schools typically send you an email in advance about an offer holder day. It tends to vary school to school, but my recommendation is emailing the school of healthcare ([email protected]) to enquire about offer holder days for nursing

When is the medicine offer holder event day?

Hey! So all offer holder days are held individually by the school itself so your best bet really is to contact the school themselves! To find out about the medicine offer older days email: [email protected].

@IbrahimIAJ For the dentistry offer holder day - its best to fill out the enquiry form here.

Hello, if I reside fairly close from the Uni should I live there in my first year, or commute? Thanks

Hi I got accepted to do computer science and was wondering if you could tell me more about the general degree stuctures at Cardiff, like the amount of courses/classes you're allowed to do per semester and if you know of any specialisations the degree allows. Thanks!

Hi there! It totally depends on personal preference. I know people from my course who moved out despite living close due to wanting to move away from family, and other people who still stayed at home. It doesn't particularly take too much away from the student experience, but some people my prefer to live away from home for their own reasons. I'd say evaluate whether you would have an enjoyable experience doing university at home or not. I always say to also think about whether you think home is a good environment to study in
