The following are job profiles for optometrists:
https://nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/job-profiles/optometrist
https://www.prospects.ac.uk/job-profiles/optometrist
https://www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/explore-roles/wider-healthcare-team/roles-wider-healthcare-team/clinical-support-staff/optometrist
https://www.life-pilot.co.uk/job-sectors/stem/job-profile/optometrist
https://www.careerpilot.org.uk/job-sectors/medical/job-profile/optometrist
...all specify that you need a degree approved by the General Optical Council, which in turn lists the approved courses that you can take to get into this role: https://optical.org/en/education-and-cpd/education/what-to-study-and-where/

The degree you want is MOptom. From the list of approved courses, you would be eligible for the following:
https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/moptom-optometry
https://www.bradford.ac.uk/courses/ug/master-of-optometry/#nav-course-entry
https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/courses/2024/21273/msci-optometry/entry-requirements/#alternative-entry-requirements
https://www.ulster.ac.uk/courses/202425/optometry-33574#entryconditions
https://www.herts.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/moptom-master-of-optometry
https://courses.uwe.ac.uk/B511/optometry#entry

So yeah, you can. I would make sure the Access course has at least 30 credits in at least 2 different sciences with at least 15 credits per science.

Hi @Vibe2226,
Great to hear you're looking at optometry 🙂
Here at Herts, we accept applicants with the Access course in Science and require 60 credits overall, with 45 at Level 3 (must include biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics) and 30 of the Level 3 modules must be at distinction (to include biology or mathematics) with the remaining 15 credits at merit. Do see our course page for details and let us know if you have any further questions.
All the best with your studies!
