Switching Uni for Masters?

Hi!

I'm curious to hear from anyone who decided between staying at their undergraduate uni for their masters or going somewhere new.

What factors did you consider? Pros and cons? And (if you're happy to share!) how did it turn out?

Usually people move to do a Masters, because the point is generally to specialise. If the specialism you want is at your undergrad Uni then fine, but otherwise you move. Undergrad Uni's will often give a fee discount to grads who stay on for further study, you are less of a risk, but there's not much other reason to stay. There is sometimes some feeling that by not moving, you aren't equipping yourself for the challenges of an academic career, where you will likely have to move, but I'm not sure that's based on evidence, more the occasional opinion you might find.
