A prospective Male Nurse???

Hello All!

I am thinking of studying a diploma in adult nursing. I am a young man
(21) and I am worried the nursing profession is mainly for women just as being a mechanic is seen as a male job. I am not a sexist by any means but I am talking about the standard roles we have traditionally known.

I have the qualifications and if its not too late, I would like to start in September 2009. I would hate this to stop me from pursuing this career.

I was recently in hospital and my favourite nurse happened to be a guy. He was so nice

Saying that, he was the only male nurse I came across in the whole time I spent there, which was a few days.

Don't let this stop you though, I think you should go for it.

I'd also love to be a nurse and I think I have my heart set on becoming one now.
Best nurses ive worked with have been men, they seem to have got through a lot more in the training to get where they are, so they seem a lot more focused, dedicated etc and don't get involved with ward politics!

you whore.

And congratulations

oh yes

planned final interviews which never happen, being put out of your depth and getting attacked by clients

Sheffield hallam this September. I withdrew from Kings and Cardiff because I'm familiar with Sheffield and have friends there, but sort of wonder what it'd have been like to live in London and go to Kings :frown:

ive always wanted to aks this, as a male..what exactly is it about midwifery that you're interested? Im interested in midwifery post-reg aswell, but possibly a good 10years after, when most people would be going onto management/specialist i'd like to move sideways into midwifery, but as a woman its the womens health area, and the care of the woman and child that interests me, and sharing that bond all women have of childbirth, labour etc
