So how is linearity defined and for what values of and b is Y = aX^b linear ?

Are you expected to provide a proof here, or just spot the answer by inspection ?

If possible please share proof or just give some clues

First I need to know what you know so I can point you in the right direction. Give me an example of a linear relationship and lets start from there.
