Pros/cons of sending a follow up email after an interview

I've never known whether it's a good or bad thing, on the one hand it shows you're interested but then you might get an employer who looks upon it as desperate..

If you are going to do it, don't do it straight away and keep it very short - "Dear X, Thank you for your time yesterday. I appreciate the opportunity to be considered for X role and look forward to hearing the outcome of the interview/assessments in due course"

But personally I wouldn't bother. If you get the job you can thank them then. If you don't get the job you can thank them when you are notified of the decision or when you get feedback.

I try to, not that many people would and I think it will make them remember you.

I remember a work colleague sent my manager a thank you card after her interview, and on the front it had a funny cartoon, which was nice.
