is audiology a good career choice???

i wanted to get some information in regards to audiology, ive been looking at it for a while and just wanted to gain a better understanding, for example what is the demand like in terms of how hard is it get a stable job, how much is the pay in fields like the private sector and how does sales and commission work, how much is the pay in locum is there progression and is it easy to move up the ranks, and then compared to optometry which atm is no doubt the better earner in the future will audiology ever become as good in terms of salary as optom and then compared to other healthcare degree orthoptics radiology dietician etc where would you rank audiology thanks
