Postgraduate students: Live in College or house?

I've got an offer for a Masters in International Relations at Durham, the uni im currently at is not collegiate so its all a bit alien to me! Does anyone with experience as a postgrad at Durham or applying for postgrad have suggestions about whether to live in college or out? College seems very expensive, but from what I understand landlords also charge extortionate rent. Also what's the social life like for people living out, do you find it hard to meet people who are not on your course because you don't live in college? Thanks!

Hello! I understand that this was last year, however I am in the same boat as you right now! I have an offer for IR (East Asia) and currently thinking about colleges. Did you decide to live in college? Several friends have recommended that I do, as it is the easiest way to make friends. Do you have any tips?!
