Year 12s: what will be the first way you research your future options? >>

What should I be aiming for with these grades? Social Anthropology (80%)

I'm currently studying for an Msc in Social Anthropology at Edinburgh Uni and I love it. I want to continue to a PHD, and will need funding to do so. I'm halfway through the course and I'm averaging 77% with these grades: 63% 76% 81% 88%.

Next year I hope to bring my average up to 80% and get my disseratation above that average. If I achieve these grades would it be realistic for me to apply to LSE or even Cambridge for my PHD? With funding? Bearing in mind that my undergrad was a 2.1 in Painting and Printmaking... hopefully a good Msc makes that irrelevent.

I assume that would be fine for admission. But funding will probably be a much taller task, even with excellent grades.

If funding for anthropology is anything like it is for the arts and humanities, you'll need a superb research proposal and very good references, in addition to excellent grades (your undergraduate result is a disadvantage, but far from a serious one).
