Physio shoes

Right. I've just got a uniform list for my course and one of the requirements is of a pair of black, flat, front lace-up shoes to go with the uniform for placements and general/other hospital visits. I'm quite awful with shoes and have no idea what to buy or where to buy them from. I also noticed from my work experience that physios spend a lot of time on their feet and work really hard, so I assume they want us to wear casual, almost trainer-like shoes? Not smart shoes? Something like these? :s-smilie:

Hmm, actually. I just noticed that these shoes are a) quite expensive and b) ugly! But is this the right type of shoe?

Hey eskimo, most of the physios` that ive had contact with, all wear- black/white, shoes/trainers, as with the ots`. I think because of the amount of time on your feet, mostly anything goes- as long as they are comfy. you should check with your placement ( as to what they expect) before spending money on something that you wont wear in the future.

to be honest it varies from placment to placement................nearly every physio I've ever seen wears trainers.......but I personally prefer to wear comfy shoes as I think they look smarter (which is unusal for me as I live in trainers! lol)

I wear a pair like this [http://www.barratts.co.uk/p/00_223_0197/Shrimp.html] - but mine are abit smarter looking than that!

and I also have a pair like this http://www.brantano.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductListDisplay?storeId=10002&catalogId=10002&langId=-13&type=3&categoryId=13023&styleId=13053&substyleId=13171&catgroupbId=&size=06&orderBy=&start=33&pages=18&productId=1734932 that I often wear too

and I know plenty of people who wear shoes like this http://vivaladivacom.drct2u.com/productcache/VLD/BO4650/EM017IM.html.gz

but lots of places will let you wear just normal trainers. I personally would wait for a while and see what happens when you get a bit closer to placement. Usually you have to make contact with your placement about 3/4 weeks before in which case you can wear whatever they suggest. My 2nd placement specifically listed that we had to wear black shoes but when I get there everyone was wearing trainers.

Personally I think trainers with physio uniform looks horrid but thtas me, and thats why I wear shoes, but you have GOT to be comfy as you're feet will kill otherwise.

I didn't want to spend too much so I went into my local cheapy shoe shop and spent £15 on the pair I wear the msot (they're like the ones in the first link). Don't spend much - its not worth it as you're only in them for 5/6 weeks at a time.

One thing though - make sure they're either wipe clean or able to go in the washing amchine - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED LOL
May I suggest these?

They are slightly smarter than a trainer, and can go in the washing machine as necessary. And they are leather rather than plastic which helps a lot!

I found them comfortable enough for working in at Asda when I'm on my feet all day and I have a pair of the white ones for placements.

Some supervisors wont care, and some will care very much (i.e. enough to mark you down on it - same goes for whether you're wearing tunic or polo shirt :s-smilie: :frown: ).

If you must have shoes, eccos are good.

Some urine bags seem to have a habit of disconnecting when you stand someone...and you can continue in that line of thinking
