Unto this Faustus replied... "Let there be clubs!"

If you can't guess from the name would someone kindly fill me in on the status of clubs/bars in Canterbury.

I'm getting a nasty feeling I'm about to go from a town with more bars/clubs/pubs per square mile in the county to a place with very few. I'm not too bothered about this so long as there's one decent club.

Having said all this I'm very pleased to read that there're at least two gay venues according to the nice guide on locations of gay venues in the back of every issue of Attitude magazine, (it's before all the cheap porn ads right at the back for those interested). While I got the impresison one was more of a pub, (not into pubs myself), the other seemed to be a club - anyway beyond that I was wondering what the clubbing status was like otherwise.

And if someone says "there's the Venue" then they must buy me a free drink in September because I mean off campus and also because EVERYONE'S heard of the Venue
Ooo just thought I should also add that Attitude have been known to lie on occasions so confirmation of the places they have listed for Canterbury would be good too.

Bar 11 is apparently one,
Westbar is apparently the other.

I say they lie cos for my town they list the (only) gay club as being called Equal which was it's name about 30 years ago, it's since been renamed.

I also checked the wiki and read about 'The Works' in town but that's the only one listed! Please tell me that's not the only one someone!

Me of course  I can't help it I'm a tad on the dramatic side! I thought it was more fun anyway hahahahaha I don't know why but I've broken into fits of laughter now.

Anyway I like to make amusing thread titles, it's really dull (particularly in the health + relationships section) where the title is always "my gf is horrible", "does he want me?" or "i think there's something wrong with me". It's far more interesting to put "That two-timing, double-crossing, back-stabbing biatch that I call my gf still wants me back!"

Get my drift?

I too am a bit worried... but I shall happily venture out and sense out the gay clubs with you!
Gay - West Bar

Studio 41, especially on Saturday.

There are A LOT of bars and pubs and not so many clubs. The clubs are better up in Canters than where i live atm though... Clubs that people mainly go to off campus are Studio 41, The Works, Chicagos (not quite sure if this is classed as a club!). Student nights in town is a Monday, Studio 41 Saturday Nights are it's 'gay' night - but its not as good as other places, i have been told. I wasn't aware that bar 11 and westbar were necesserily gay bars - but they both do exist! But, as you know, there are 5 bars on campus and the venue, which you already know...! You should be fine!

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic! Thanks for reassuring me

Tbh, its not hard to get into london from Kent and it doesn't take too long, so if a massive night out is what you're after I say go up there...helps if you have a friends place to crash at.

Obviously not every weekend as that will severely drain your ££££ but its good for a big night out.

Right, you must all gay it up with me then. Because I'll be gagging for a bit of lesbian company by the time I get there. I love my fiance and wouldn't change him, but there's something about lesbians that makes me feel at home.

(I'm bisexual. If you hadn't guessed. And he's my first boyfriend and now my fiance ^_^)

 Don't worry I had already added you to my list of LGBT company seeing as I've seen you (alarmingly active) on the Kent '08 Freshers Facebook group (All THREE/FOUR of them) and the "you go further" forums - I'm a member of both (though I rapidly abandoned the "you go further" forums because I thought they were a bit naff and only make cursory glances over the Facebook group).

You were the one that took the photos of Canterbury, I was particuarly fond of the Thorntons set in that old school building :p:

That may make me look like a stalker but I merely happen to have been on these forums and noticed you on a lot

By the way I am not 'lesbian company' madam  I'm gay!

*grins* Are you sure? :p:

And no, I meant at Gay clubs there'll be lesbians. But of course, I'll want you too hahaha.

And I'm not active on all of them, only the best one haha - the one I posted pictures on is the one I created, so of course I'm active on it!

Anyhoo...
