Hi, I'm a 21 year old female and have just started Maths and English GCSE courses for this year after failing to get them in school (got kicked out). I have an interest in Engineering, particularly the rail industry and would like some advice on which path to take. My qualifications are: Level 2 CACHE in Health and Social Care (A*) Level 1 NVQ in Engineering Level 1 Functional Skills in both Maths & English, soon to be GCSE
My options are: 1. Do a Level 2 BTEC in Engineering (1 year course) next year and then find a Level 3 Apprenticeship. 2. Do a Level 3 BTEC in Engineering (2 year course) next year and then find a degree apprenticeship. 3. Do an Access Course (1 year course) next year and then do a 4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering, which includes a placement year.
Which option do you think would be best? Bearing in mind I am already 21 and time is ticking :/
Thanks.
Why not apply for an apprenticeship once you've passed your GCSEs - that way you get some experience and qualifications at the same time.
