Hi, no apologies required, this is what we’re here for! Please take a look at CareerVidz on YouTube. It is super helpful in terms of the questions you’re likely to be asked, and how to answer them. This is the first video I watched, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pzu6rDsP-SU

Which stage of the application are you at? I can send more info

Thank you! I’ll check that out! I have my interview next week 😊

Hi @sassielaw
The telephone assessment is pretty short, mine was less than 20 minutes. When you answer the call, answer by saying "Good Morning/Afternoon (your name) speaking." It sounds professional and polite.

The best video to help me prepare was by Richard McMunn on Youtube. Here is the link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzu6rDsP-SU&t=6s
I guarantee you will feel a lot better going through this!

I also had two unexpected scenario questions. I was told that there is no right or wrong answer. so just answer honestly.

1) "You are on your way to work at the Met, but you're running late. You just saw a cyclist fall down from an accident, but you are really getting late and your manager wanted you in on time for a meeting? What do you do?"

2) "You are planning a group holiday with your friends and the hotel had an offer for cheaper rooms. But one of your friends' has a disability and the hotel cannot accommodate them. The next available booking was in a few weeks time but without discount. What do you do?"

Hope this helps!

Hi again, hope you don’t mind me asking but how long after being told you were successful in the first telephone interview until the email with a link to booking the second interview came? It’s been 2 days , am I being impatient? Thanks Sarah

Hi Sarah,
after passing the phone interview I got the email within a week. I think 6 days or so. Don’t worry once they’ve told you you passed the phone interview, you will get the email soon  give it until next week
Hi, I have my face to face this Sunday coming. I'm using my time now to prepare as best I can. Your advice served me well last time, do you have any pointers for the next stage? Many thanks Sarah

Hello Sarah
Here are some notes I made after my assessment and how the day will progress.

- First few people waiting in reception. You’ll be in a group of people for the assessment. It would be good to make some conversation here. It shows you have good interpersonal skills.

- Await 3 chaperones

- Security checks - if you deny request to check bags, you cannot continue with the interview.

- you will be all be escorted into a room, with 6 assessors. They can’t smile at u. But don’t worry!

Tasks - memory: talk to people next to you
And then find out about them and then tell the rest of the room what you know about yhem

Next: go into groups and work out which scenarios need urgent assistance. Get involved here. Everyone should speak up with an example when asked.

Then relay to group

- Typing test
- Use the test here which is exactly what you’ll be using in the assessment: https://www.how2become.com/blog/the-999-call-handler-audio-typing-test/

The first typing test is a Practice. Ask questions if you don’t understand.
Next: 3 attempts and the average score is taken as your pass of fail.

- Break (you will be told if you are progressing onto the interview here)

- Interview:
For this you need to focus on the competency values.
Use detailed examples of how you have achieved each competency!!
Go into detail !!!!

- You will then be asked to wait outside and called back in once a decision has been made.

Good luck!!!
Hi, thanks for getting back to me, it’s the typing skills I’m worried about, I’m ok at normal typing tests but tried these and wasn’t sure if I had to record every word or key points, what was your experience on your day? Thanks again, I’ll be practicing regularly, Sarah

The typing skill doesn’t have to be absolutely perfect. It’s the speed they look at, try your best and yes the practice ones help

Hi again, I'm still revising, reading and searching so that I am as fully prepared for this interview. I am reading in the Pack that I bought from the Richard McMunn youtube site, How2Become... it was drafted quite some years ago and mentions numeracy tests as well as the typing test but I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere else, did you experience numeracy tests?

Also I've been practising the audio typing tests and understand that you don't need to be word perfect but I wondered - for example one of the clips is 40 seconds long but has around 60 words, do the examiners allow you to type for 60 seconds or do you have to finish as the recording finishes? I might sound a bit crazy but really want to do well and this is my sticking point, thanks again for your time and patience, Sarah

Hi Sarah, you don’t sound crazy. As far as I remember the typing tests were 30 seconds each.

There were no numeracy tests that I experienced.

you will honestly be fine! I wish you the best of luck for tomorrow and remember, they expect you to be nervous, it’s completely normal and do your best
Thank you so much, I’ll know by tomorrow evening 🙏🏻

My assessment is this Saturday in hendon. It consists of a role play .. typing audio test and face to face interview. The only one i don't know what to expect or know how to revise for is the role play. do you happen to know what that consists of? Thankss

Hi, the role play I had was more to do with talking to the person next to me for a period of time and then sharing what I had learned with the group. We then split into 2 groups and studied a series of scenarios and had to assign levels of response to each of them, good luck

Hi, hope your progression through the procedure is going well, have you begun yet? I have my medical on Friday, I know there will be a sight and hearing test, is there anything else?

Hello - I passed my assessments and interview for this role last week  message if you have any questions!

Hi there. I have my assessment day on saturday. Please could you let me know what you did dor the roleplay and audio typing stage and a couple of questions they asked you at the face to face interview after. Also do they let u know whether uve passed or not on the day. Thank you would be a big help if you could let me know these things
Hi, you’re asked to find out as much as you can from the person next to you then tell the group, next there are 6 scenarios on a sheet and 4 levtt et as of response , as a group you discuss and decide on the appropriate response, next is the typing test, one practice, 3 actual tests, they take your average score. At this point they let you know if you’re through to the next round which is the interview. I was asked 6 questions, why I want the job, how I prepared, have I ever made a mistake, have I ever helped a colleague, what have I found difficult to do in my work, you are told after that if you are being offered the position depending on a medical and vetting, good luck
