Would you turn down LSE to go to SOAS? Which one is better for social sciences?

No one would turn down LSE for SOAS unless they had some mental problems :stupido2:

Why do u have offers for both? What subject?

Lord no. LSE is generally accepted to be better than SOAS (plus you have the advantage of the good reputation), although if you're more interested in oriental/middle eastern things, SOAS might be better.

still haven't heard from LSE but...you never know, eh eh.

I've never looked up SOAS, so I don't really know. It's proably ok (although I wouldn't want to go there), but not as good as LSE.

You dont wana be worrying about which one to go to until LSE actually give you a offer, as alot of very good people get rejected..

well actually you should be worrying about where to go even if they do reject you. its best to be prepared rather than have to start making hasty decisions in the future SOAS has a very good reputation for postgraduate study and has lots of interesting courses at both undergraduate level and postgrad. Going on reputation alone I would reccomend the LSE but both made it into the top 50 universities in the world in the times (which although is not the best survery does show some sort of relative worth) At the end of the day go for whichever one you feel most comfortable with. as they are both in london uni you get the same degree and the same sort of nightlife as well as access to alot of the same academic facilities

my adivce is go to LSE, unless you really dont like it, but if you dont get in its certainly not the end of the world and SOAS is very good and well respected with a number of career areas believing a soas degree is a very good degree

i would only go to soas to do economics & chinese (1 year in china) or if i were extremely interested in oriental and african studies (OAS). for straight econ and/or anything else... LSE is much better.

Incidently, my friend is just about to turn down LSE (conditional offer for International Relations- same as me) for SOAS because he wants to do Arabic and Politics...you don't know how many times I've tried to convince him otherwise... :hmpf:
If you want soc sci in general go to LSE for sure. If you want to concentrate on africa/asia/middle east go to SOAS but otherwise definately lse.

I don't want to be unpolite, but this comparison is ridiculous.

Not really. Both are internationally renowned specialist institutions which cover different areas. If you want to become a lawyer at a city firm then theres no comparison but if you want work concerning the oriental/africa then theres not much point in choosing LSE over SOAS . Theres no denying that LSE is quite comfortably the more famous and prestigious of the two though.
