I want to U-turn my UCAS choices.

I've received 5 uni offers and set my firm and insurance (both sports journalism). All is good except I have completely changed my mind about the course I want to do. To do sports science instead, is the best option for me to just go to clearing and hope for the best or is there another way? I know it won't let me do a separate application but if I withdrew and did it again is there a chance I can get into at least one uni for sports science (today is 15th May) If not I don't mind either waiting a year or sticking with journalism. In a bit of a panic as I'm not even sure what I can do let alone what to do! Thanks!

Hey so while I myself haven't experienced this a few of my friends have. So these might not be the only choices because I don't like giving advice for things I don't really know about but here are what each of my friends did.

My first friend knew he really didn't want to do his course anymore and declined all of them. He was willing to wait another year if it didn't work out anyway but then he went through UCAS extra i think. I'll just put the link for you to read because i'm not 100% sure how it worked.

My other friend loved her firm choice uni but didn't want to do the course. So she found another course from the same university and rang them directly. She got lucky and there was a place on the course (this isn't always the case) but it's always worth a try.

But there are some amazing universities that might specialise in sports science that are unlikely to have spaces left this year. I'm not sure what grades your getting or your preferences so it depends on the courses you want, their reputation and the overall feeling of the place! If I was in your position, I would look into UCAS extra and maybe see if you can speak to an advice person if you're at college/sixth form.

Hopefully, someone with a bit more experience than me will reply to you but I thought I'd at least attempt to give you two different experiences of your situation from my friends  Hope I somewhat helped even though it wasn't a lot!

You could search through Extra using the UCAS search tool to see if any courses you like have vacancies. If you do find any, however, ring up the uni and confirm it before declining your current offers because UCAS doesn't always update correctly! UCAS Extra is running till July 4, so there's plenty of time to search, and if nothing catches your eye, you could shop around Clearing. Alternatively, if you're fine taking a gap year, that could be a good option too.

Do either your firm or insurance offer sports science? If so, do you like the course they offer?
