If you are a student I believe you can get a bus (X12) for £1 a day but the route is rather long (possibly around 1 hour). The train is more expensive but takes a lot less time

Hiya

You can travel between Newcastle and Durham using either buses or trains. Go North East and Arriva are two companies which run buses- with the former, a back-and-forth journey will cost you £4 while with the latter, you can get a £1 student ticket by showing your Durham student ID. With buses, the travel time is about an hour.

As for trains, they can be as cheap as £2 one-way but it usually varies according to demand. I would recommend getting a 16-25 railcard as that gives you discounts on every train journey. The travel time with the train is about 13 mins, so this is usually the mode of transport students use.
