how much does travel distance matter in college?

i'm in y11 applying for colleges at the moment, and there are some good ones in my area but my dream college is about 50min-1h20 away. do you think it matters enough to go for one of the closer options? because they're still good schools, and i'm not really used to a long commute daily . thanks
Honestly where you go for 6th form is really not super important in the long run and I think that kind of commute is probably unsustainable unless you only have to go in 2 or 3 days a week (and even then it will be challenging).

I did a 90 min commute using bus/train/train 5 days a week. ( For 6th form)
You get used to it.
The hardest part was the social life was a bit limited due to train times but it was ok.

I would strongly recommend not going there if it’s going to potentially be over 1 hour each way. It will be tiring, a waste of time, and more difficult to make good friends as the distance makes socialising after school more difficult. On top of all that, if this dream school has really high grades it will potentially mean your grades will also need to be really high as top unis like Oxbridge look at your grades in context of the school you took them in.
