Dropping a 4th A-level when UCAS is submitted

I currently take 4 A-levels (English Literature, History, Sociology and Economics, completed A* EPQ last year). I have applied to read Law at Oxford, Durham, Warwick, Exeter and York. I found doing 4 completely manageable in Y12 but now in Y13 taking my November mocks, and having to complete coursework in the same time, I have found it incredibly overwhelming and way too much work to feasibly complete. My other subjects come quite 'naturally' to me but I've found the content of economics a lot more difficult to understand (even though lots of people say its easy!) and I have very poor economics teachers who are non-specialists and have barely any experience in teaching the qualification. It feels like I have to double the work for economics because I have to teach myself all the content at home - so it feels like doing 5 a-levels worth of work overall.
Can I drop it now or would it harm my chances? Should I wait to see if I get an interview/ offer from Oxford? Should I stick it out and then reassess in January?
If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it!

If you haven't already been entered for all 4 then it would be better to drop one now - if you leave it until after you've been entered for the exam, then you would have to include it on your UCAS form and it would always show up as something you dropped out of doing.
You will need to tell your universities if you drop a subject and get their approval.

It is true. If there's any material changes to the application you can't rely on UCAS transmitting this to your choices.

Even if it doesn't affect any offer, (it probably won't), it can delay things on results day as your grades may appear incomplete.

Not worth the faff for the sake of an email.

If you are dropping one subject, (which it sounds like you are), better to notify UCAS and your choices now. There's no point getting offers and then trying to sort it out later.

If you are undecided then you can wait and see how you feel. But again, you'll need to notify your choices as-and-when you decide to make a change.

It is true. You will have made a contract that you are taking 4 subject and universities will have made offers based on this. If you change your part of the contract universities are then entitled to change or cancel any offer made. In practice this wont happen but to cover yourself you need to get an agreement in writing to you dropping a subject otherwise when your universities get your results they could withdraw any offer made. Dont put yourself in that position
