Cambridge vs UCL vs KCL A100 Medicine

Hi!! Just trying to see what you guys think of the differences (pros and cons) of studying medicine at these three institutions. I do know Cambridge is better in terms of a) prestige b) individualised teaching via supervisions; and UCL and KCL are better in terms of a) London life b) less stressful environments. But what do you think?

E.g. would there be ways how "individualised teaching" could be achieved in UCL and KCL too?
Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.

I would choose Cambridge as my first choice due to the research opportunities in UK, USA, EU and Australia. 🙂

UCL is excellent too, but has a lot of international students, who are fiercely competitive.

KCL is less competitive and a little 'laid back' with students not as competitive and has less international students than UCL too.

You won't have much time for a social life, as it is, as Medicine is so 'intense' with the demanding workload. ☹️

Do you have offers from all of them...?

Also prestige is irrelevant in medicine. The only provider of graduate training posts in the UK is the NHS and they blind recruiters from your medical school to ensure there is no bias.

You won't get oxbridge style supervisions at any uni except oxbridge. They literally run them at a loss just to preserve that unique element of teaching as a selling point.

Not sure why you consider living in London as a pro. You pay double or triple the rent, pay more for food, transport and entertainment (including nights out) and for what...?

Unless you already live in London and are going to be living at home by all accounts that's really a hard con. Unless your only experience of London is visiting for a day with stars in your eyes, in which case that wears off quickly (usually after about a month when your first rent payment goes out).

Thanks for all your replies - I do not have offers from all of them, I am just curious of the differences in medical education at these three institutions as an international student yearning for international exposure and world class training.

I definitely agree about the high living cost in London, which I hope to be covered by my scholarship if possible. I considered living in London as a "pro" in my case due to the vibrancy and opportunities.

I understand supervisions are unique aspects of Oxbridge - I am just curious if it is possible to, say, taking the initiative to approach a professor every week or so in UCL/ KCL, so I can get individualised teaching.

Lastly, would there be aspects which UCL and KCL have that Cambridge don't? Perhaps the integrated curriculum? Thanks!
