Hi i’ve looked at this myself and realised that LIV is a lot nicer and closer to the collegiate campus than elements, they’ve also put the prices up this year for elements so going with LIV would be cheaper and you get a lot more for your money, e.g facilities, events by what I’ve heard when researching myself. Hope this helps!

Hi @kiremio ,

I didn't actually stay in either of these halls in my first year but I did know people who did so I thought id give you my input!

Pricing wise they are similar but it depends which room type you were to go for- I'm sure you've looked at this page but all the details of this are here: https://www.shu.ac.uk/study-here/accommodation/properties

They are also both similar distances to both City and Collegiate campus and I would recommend checking which campus you will be in if you haven't already as sometimes this can help make your decision. They are both close to Aldi and are both also close to bars/pubs etc if you like going out!

I did tour both accommodations when I came to an open day and I would say that the rooms in LIV were nicer and the kitchens were very nice too- nice sofa and had a tv and dishwasher in each kitchen which you don't usually get in halls. They also had really nice social spaces and a rooftop garden area! However, one of my course friends stayed here and she said she regretted staying in a 4 bed flat as she didn't get on with them and there's less people in your flat for you to be with so if you stay here I would recommend getting a room in a bigger flat (which is cheaper anyway) as this way you have more people and more chances of getting on with them! This differs massively though and it's pot luck whether you get on with your flatmates in any halls!

As for the elements, I would say this is more sociable in my opinion. I went to a few parties here and there always seemed to be something going on if this is your kind of thing. I also had a friend who stayed here and loved it and said it was very sociable so if this is what you are after I would go for the elements! The rooms aren't as nice in my opinion and the kitchen isn't as nice as LIV so it really depends what you are after.

If you want to tour the accommodations yourself, you could always book onto an applicant open day where you will meet other applicants and academics and tour the campus and accommodations. I'm not 100% sure if you would be able to look around all accommodations but if you don't get to then you can book tours of the accommodations on their individual websites so if you were in Sheffield for the day you could go and see them!

This is the link for the applicant open day: https://www.shu.ac.uk/visit-us/undergraduate-applicant-open-days

If you wanted to book a tour of LIV: https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/[email protected]/bookings/

if you wanted to book a tour of the elements: https://abodusstudents.com/book-a-tour/

I hope some of this helps!
