Almost all worldwide heads of state are funded by taxpayers' money.

Also, George III surrendered the crown lands in return for taxpayers' money. Look up the Crown Estate.

Minor royals, yes. However, the Queen and her spouse carry out the same sort of duties as the President of Germany and many other ceremonial heads of state.
