My halal brother, I too lived in Bradford for 8 and a half years. PM me and i'll give you a tour of BD2/3. All i've done my whole life is socialise with Muslims and I did say that a very small % of them took things too seriously, not the other way.

Halal brother?? If its only a 'very small %' who took things seriously, then why are you threading with a title 'Muslims are the saddest community of people'? Either your just bored and seeking attention on TSR, or you seriously need to get out into the wider world and socilaise with more people and not just Muslims.
.... the establishment have put a chip on some of their shoulders, and they're quite happy to retain it because in some perverse way it propels them into the misty grounds of moral authority - which is quite wrong.

If you are admitting that a very small % of them did, then I don't understand the point of the whole thread.
This is the thing, I have no idea why its always about Muslims, it is annoying that 9 out of 10 times I find a thread on my home page about Muslims, while about 3 out of 10 times I see a thread about other religions.

Perhaps.A while back I said a joke to a Pakistani mate about how they banned facebook for a week because of the banter flying around after Australia had just beat Pakistan at cricket (Obvs it had actually been banned because of the draw Mohamed day or whatever it was called). He then got pretty mad even though most others found it (mildy) funny.

By this I mean they can't take jokes. Everything turns serious and what initially was supposed to be a light-hearted casual discussion, turns into a hate-filled 'you diss my relligion, i'll chop off your neck' debate.

I understand Islam to be the 'religion of peace', apparently, and I accept that the media do portray the religion negatively and the opposite of the above, and yes, the media are idiots, but some individuals (even if only a small %), turn out to be what the media claim.

Now I know these are the 'idiot' Muslims, who are probably only by-name, but I mean the ordinary practising ones, still take things way to seriously, often. For example, white comedian says something about Muslims, somebody says the same joke in a discussion, Muslim people kick-off. Yet, when Muslim comedian says something, Muslims just laugh along as the white people being laughed at.

White people don't care, they laugh too, "Yeah we drink beer, eat bacon and shag women, and what?" Yet, if you said something like that about Muslims, some of them would start arguments and fights, even if you don't mean disrespect to the religion. Why aren't they more open-minded and willing to play along to jokes?

No offence is meant or cause by this post, and I understand religion is a serious issue to many people, but forget jokes, you mention the word 'Jew' or 'zionist' or anything of the sort in a discussion and 55 Muslims rant, "Let's stone his dad" and what not.

Discuss, I guess?

quite simple.

Islam is a way of life, not like Christianity, where the majority of people go to church for a bit on sundays, if that. Islam has a lot of aspects that cause it to become integrated into your life, and thus you don't attack people's religion, but also their beliefs, morals, culture, etc. It's easy for non-muslims to laugh it off because there are very few people who actually are devoted to their religion, whilst in Islam there is a much larger majority of people who are. This, coupled with some influential extremist muslims that preach non-islamic values (hate everyone who isn't a muslim, even as far as promoting terrorism, etc.) to a lot of uneducated and ignorant muslims who eat all this up, is bound to result in a very sensitive mind when it comes to the issue of religion.

The reason why Islam has a negative image in the West is that firebrand preachers like Abu Hamza or Anjem Choudary get maximum media attention for preaching inflammatory rubbish. Interestingly enough Jewish extremists (for instance, some rabbi said it was acceptable to kill non-Jews to protect Israel) who preach similar rhetoric don't get as much media coverage.

Where???

You can't see them as they are dressed like ninjas.
Incase you missed it the first time. If you keep poking me with a stick, its funny at first and then soon enough it gets boring and eventually ANNOYING. In the same way thats the feeling towards your thread.

You really think Muslims have no humour? Well my friend, your very very wrong. In fact, it seems your the guy with no humour - its ironic that your threads never make me laugh and I don't think you yourself have any humour. At the same time, of course Muslims take offence if your always stuck in their face criticising them. Try to socialise with a Muslim for once, politics aside, really they'r just normal people you know. Try it. You'l be surprised.

Well, if you joke about their religion obviously they will get pissed off. Try insult Jesus in the middle of the Vatican to see what's going to happen to ya.

Nah, we joke too :^_^:
A couple of the guys at my uni are Pakistani and Muslim and they are two of the friendliest guys I know, we trade banter back and forth like no tomorrow. According to them it's not racism - it's just international word play!
Perhaps all muslims are just trolling...
