It may decrease a jail sentence, as a community order could be made, such as a drug rehabilitation requirement on a probation order. This does not absolve legal responsibility.

Nope, but it allows my idiots of neighbors to continue living next to me, who still continue to take them.

I want them in prison, cold turkey.

Maybe the issue is with you then.

Don't be so phased by what people assert.

I fail to see how rational counter-arguments against your case that drug addicts dont deserve respect (lots of things can harm you, better not do anything fun, like ever) would mean that the issue is me.

And this thread isn't about justifying drug use- there's a different thread for that, and like here, every anti- legalization claim has been disproven there as well.

Come into any other thread, sports, gaming, what-have-you, start bashing the subject, and you'd be considered a troll.

Aha, what exactly do you see as beneficial about drug-use?

1. It creates long-term health problems, whether taken in moderation or not. It increases the risks of developing many physical/mental illnesses. Yes, I know food/alcohol does, but yano...2 wrongs don't make a right?
2. People do stupid stuff when on it, become paranoid and the like.
3. It motivates people to do stupid stuff to get it - causing people to steal to fund it. It can lead to debt. Drugs > Debt > Break-ups of family, even homelessness.
4. Celebrities on drugs provide, quite frankly, terrible role models to children.
5. It makes you look an idiot, people have no respect for drug-takers, apart from fellow drug-users.
6. It doesn't improve your life. It doesn't make your problems go away, at least not for longer than the "high" lasts.
7. The people who make money from it do not benefit the economy, they take cash in hand, thus are tax-dodgers.
8. But hey, does wonders for your appearances; http://www.co.benton.ar.us/Media/Image/ProAtt/Meth01.jpg

Hmm...sexy or what?

You'll come back and say "I enjoy it, it's a laugh", well whoopee do....but I and many others certainly don't. :|

Many drug-takers don't work - they use dole money to fund it. I despise the fact my taxes fund their habit/hospital treatment/dental treatment for manky teeth. Why should self-respecting citizens pay the price of anti-social behavior?

Literally every one of those points except the tax one also apply to drink. Also crystal meth is non existent in this country so the teeth point isn't really valid.

Many drug takers do work. The majority of people who use drugs never actually encounter many problems or addiction. I forget the exact figures, but I think that Dr Russell Newcombe came up with a figure of about 10% of users encountering some sort of addictive problem. The vast majority of people who do end up with addictive behaviours, have some underlying emotional reasons, often a history of trauma, often trauma as children. This is why taxes should fund treatment.

Oh, I get it now. You're one of these people who thinks every drug is crystal meth.

Luckily, you don't get to make the laws or commission treatment models.

Drugs should be legalised, it's annoying that people can't handle it and it ruins it for the rest of us, especially since alcohol you see one person puking their guts out every night and everyone who forgets to drink water is hungover as ****.

:yep:.

LOL. I have no problem letting people know who I am and knowing my disdain for drugs.

It's funny though, how the people on here admitting to drug use don't have actual photo's of their selves, or their proper names...

Many things that are fun don't have to harm though, do they?

You're the one getting offended by somebody saying they don't respect drug takers, not anybody else.
Original post by Jono404
Do you not respect people who drink either?

Also if you don't like drug takers you might want to throw away all your CDs and DVDs considering cocaine is what powers the music and film industry.

Music and film are art and entertainment. why should I discard entertainment?

I respect people who drink, but only in moderate amounts. binge drinkers are dicks.

I think they're utterly abhorrent and do not go near them at all, nor do I ever plan to.

That being said, I don't see how I have any right to impose my beliefs on anyone else, people should be free to do what they want (even if it is a freedom I don't want to have personally), it's their life afterall and thus I am in favour of complete legalisation, which is the case in TSR's own model Parliament. People have the intelligence to weigh up the advantages and disadvantages on their own, that's what freedom is all about - responsibility.

There were allegations she was on drugs, I wasn't aware they'd been proven...?

I like to drink until i'm really drunk with my friends sometimes. I saw some friends from different parts of the country and a few from the US all together for the first time in ages the other day. We had a great evening and then all got really drunk and played music and sat in the garden and had a lovely old time.

Why am I a dick now?

Well, obviously, disdain for drugs is not a crime. Despite your opinion you should welcome open debate but unfortunately one never knows how online information will be organised and used in the future. Rather silly to admit a serious crime on a public forum without the use of an alias or displaying your photo. :dontknow:

It is probably easy to be blase if you haven't ever been charged with anything.

Have you read the title? You don't think anyone else who has been posting here would take offense?

"People who rock climb risk their lives and don't deserve any respect. But you know that's my opinion and all, don't hate."

I need to get out of this ****fest of a thread before I get a brain hemorrhage.

Exactly what I'd expect from someone who supports the legalization of drugs.
