Overall Degree Mark

How do you work out what you need in third year to get a 2:1 in your overall degree? Do you add together the entire of second year (both semesters) and then see what percentage you get?? So confused, have no idea how to work it out!

Depends on weightings of years, as well as tiny rules that your uni has (it should be outlined somewhere as to how things are classified, how roundjng works, whether you need slightly less overall if you get 70 or above in all third year modules (as is the case at my uni), things like that.

So work out the weightings then you can do the maths to find out.

It's 30% in second year and 70% in third year with four modules in second year and eight modules in third year. Does that help? Thanks so much!

According to the regulations your second year is worth 30% and third year 70% of your degree - see https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/media/livacuk/tqsd/code-of-practice-on-assessment/appendix_I_2010-11.pdf. What did you get in your second year?

In general, you need 60% overall to get a 2.1. However, if you get 59% then Liverpool will have a closer look to see if they can award you a 2.1 - see section 1.6(ii) in the above for details.

Partly. No one can tell you what you need in third year until you tell us your overall grade in second year.

EDIT: Individual module grades are also useful if coupled with information on how many credits per module.
