It's a before and after pic. Honestly, you don't think there's anything wrong with the left nose? I'd say mine's even worse to be honest

Honestly, I think the left nose is fine. I don't think that woman needed rhinoplasty, but it's her choice and her life so it doesn't bother me too much. My ex has a hooked nose that is much larger and prominent than that woman's, and he used to be teased, yet it still didn't bother me, I think it suits him and he is rather handsome. If you really want the nose job then go ahead, but I don't think you do, if it is similar to that woman's. It's your choice though.
Hmm. When I got my jaw done, my nose changed shaped as my top jaw was altered. It felt like I was recovering from a nose job on the side; it bled profusely to the extent my nostrils were clogged with blood for a good few weeks, it was bruised, sore, messed up in shape for a while. Conveniently the shape it is now is much nicer than what it previously was, but it's still not perfect - and I'd never ever ever go through it again, even if someone else was paying for the op.

You got your jaw done?? What does that involve?/Why did you have it done? For medical or cosmetic reasons?

Well, personally - though I am not a girl - I would feel strange to be around people after having any cosmetic surgery - because it would be obvious I had done so - and I just wouldn't feel good that I had to do it.

Besides, with all the cost/risks ontop - it is just a no no.

I would only consider surgery if there was an abnormality/deformation that exists due to some reason - not because I feel my nose isn't perfect etc.

How would it be obvious? You obviously know nothing about cosmetic surgery.

OP, why would sky give you a voucher for an operation that costs thousands of pounds?
I'd do it without a second thought tbh.

I hate my nose, so yeah I'd have it done if it was free and I could choose a very reputable surgeon. I wouldn't care if it looked like I'd had a nose job tbh, what's better; having a naturally ugly nose or an unnaturally pretty nose!? lol.

I haven't, Im just trying to get people to focus on the other aspects, rather than money.

HOWEVER money wouldnt be an issue for me. I know the surgeon, and he knows Iv'e been thinking about it for years and years. Ive seen a lot of his patients, before and after, so I know he's skilled, and he's offered me a discount. My father's very willing to pay the discounted price 'if it makes me happy'. He's also a surgeon (a general one), so he doesn't see it as a big deal, and knows a lot about the health risks involved.

So yeah, all that aside, it really only leaves my gut feeling - is it shallow and vain? Do I want to live with a 'fake' nose? Do I want people to percieve me in that way? Do I want to risk it looking weird on me, or really fake? Do I think it is a moral thing to do?

These are the kind of opinions I want here really.

It's not a fake nose, nor can it in any sense be construed as fake. I mean, is a girl wearing makeup wearing a fake face? Does a war veteran with scaring on their face from shrapnel have a fake face? All that has happened is you've had your nose altered to result in a different shape. It is still your nose though.

The only people I find against cosmetic surgery are those who usually have their own insecurities that can't be fixed by surgery and so they don't want to see anybody else to have their own perceived flaws removed. Rest assured that if these people had the money and option, they would choose cosmetic surgery in an instant.
if you aren't comfortable do it before a major change in your life, say going to uni, moving town...
a couple of people in my school did it and one day they had an ugly nose, next week (after a week of absence) their nose was brand new and perfect. you can easily imagine other people's reactions...
i wouldn't do it, but if you feel really bad about it have plastic surgery before going somewhere where nobody knows you.

Not that I've ever had, or need for that matter, a nose job but I know some people who have and all I can say is that don't listen to this person OP. Your nose won't be 'perfect' in a week. It can take weeks if not months for residual swelling to dissipate. Your nose would probably look the same, if not perhaps worse, initially.

I would defo get a nose job if a voucher fell from the sky,i hate my nose and intend to get o nose job as soon as i can afford one.

What if you didnt know they'd had it done?

Then obviously I wouldn't think they had a slightly unattractive personality, because the thought of plastic surgery wouldn't cross my mind.
I had a nose job 18 months ago and don't regret it for a second. Apart from my family and the two best friends I told, no one else has noticed the difference even though its very obvious to me when comparing Facebook photos.

If this is something YOU really want to do, I cannot emphasise enough the importance of researching your surgeon beforehand.

Complications from a nose job are very, very rarely from infections but are most likely to arise from a surgeon who lacks the requisite skills. Taking out too much cartilidge can lead to problems that need to be fixed later in a 'revision' surgery (and the guy may or may not waive his fees for this) and the sad fact is that very few plastic surgeons in the UK are rhinoplasty specialists.

A 'general' surgeon or even 'general plastic surgeon' may not have enough experience based on how complicated your nose is to work on. Just because a surgeon is good at breast implants, it doesn't mean he's necessarily good at work on noses where it's comes down to millimetre precision and experience on exactly how a nose will heal.

Shop around - book some consultations and ask specific questions about the surgeons experience such as how many nose jobs they have performed in the past.

As a guide on what you should be asking in consultations, this resource is fantastic:

Best of luck with whatever decision you choose to make,

My nose isn't too bad, but if a free voucher fell from the sky i'd still get a nose job (cause it's free lol).

Anyways, like many people have said, it's up to you really. If it's bugging you a lot and you really feel your life would improve if you had a "better" nose then go for it (considering you have the cash).

Basically my bottom jaw was slightly too big but my top jaw was too small. I had an underbite which meant eating was difficult and it looked a bit stupid too :p:. I had the op a year ago on the 30th. Both my jaws were broken, the bottom was pushed back and the top moved forward, and I have 6 screws and 2 plates in my face. For some reason moving your top jaw forward widens your nose, but that was fine for me because it was too narrow anyway. I had it done on the NHS because it comes under orthodontic treatment. The recovery process was painful, both physically and emotionally, and I couldn't eat solids for over a month. But s'all good now, I have nice straight teeth and aligned jaws . Deffo would recommend the surgery.

Tbh I'd prefer someone with an ugly nose (oh and you can be that bad really) then someone who undertook cosmetic surgery.
I think I would.. I HATE my nose.. I never have any photos from the side on, when I judge girls prettiness I always look at their noses and feel jealous :frown: it's really sad

BUT I do understand your worries.. the whole being judged as shallow thing.. it's not that I'm vain, far from it.. it's just that noone understands what it feels like to hate part of yourself so much that it makes you cry to even think about it, but I agree with the whole point about you could be a lot worse off blah blah, but it doesn't make you feel any better about your appearance deep down..
Nope, I don't like me nose either but still don't think it's worth it
yes i would.
I could be wrong..

But I heard that when they do "Nose-jobs" they get this metal thing and a hammer and basically stick the metal thing in your nose and hit it in so everything shatters then re-make it and let it heal..

prob wrong though

Well that was strangely put because if I assumed I didn't mind surgery then I would do it.
However I do mind surgery because I think that nature's given us something that we shouldn't mess up - take God out of the question and just think about the fact that you will never look how you were meant to
