Have you asked prospective supervisors? If you can find someone with an interest in that (very specific) field, they may well have a project already in mind.

That's a topic in itself. Maybe not that specific antibiotic, but there may already be a funded PhD studentship available for something similar. Or as someone else suggested, find groups that are researching that area and make inquiries.
