English with History degree
I am hoping to study an English with History degree, could someone suggest some books that would prepare me/be useful for the course?
The common historiography books (In Defence of History, What is History? etc.) may prove useful, if a little dull. Any of the myriad lit theory encyclopedias will also place you in good stead - I don't quite remember which ones I had but I owned probably 4 or 5. For something a bit different you could try Sidney's The Defence of Poesy or something.
What will be directly useful depends on your current level of knowledge and the exact makeup of your course though.

Thank you very much, I'll go and check them out. I completed my a levels summer 2015, and was taught, I'd say, the foundations of historiography.
