URGENT) What if I want to do art but didn't do art AS?

Hi guys,

I'm currently studying at a british school somewhere not in the UK  and I'm so worried right now

I took Econ, Maths, Further Maths, Bio to study Finance in Uni, but I changed my mind during summer about my major and decided to study art instead.

First because I was more into art than any other subject, and I had a lot to write about art.
Second because I struggled so much trying to revise economics last year.

My academic records are pretty good so far

GCSE: 10A*s and 1A (I took art here- full marks)
AS level: AAAA

The problem here is though, I'm applying to american university.
Apparently the first year is for new students to choose any courses of their interest and the second year is when they choose their major?

Do you think I would be at a great disadvantage if I applied to american uni (NYU) with my personal statement talking about art but without any AS qualification? (I'm doing EPQ on art right now)

Please help me

It depends on the college. Students applying as art majors are often required to submit a portfolio of their artwork. That is the case for NYU.

If you want to be an art history major, then no, it doesn't really matter what your A-levels were.
