I'm also still awaiting results for the diplomatic service. Apparently some feedback reports are out. Anyone got one and if so, is it useful/informative? Does it tie-in with how you thought the day went?

I'm still waiting, boo. Congrats on your pass. Were you new eden project/mountain bike comp/canals guy?

No.. though I remember someone talking about canals in the common room..

I was the 'plump' (ok, fat) Indian guy.. who came out of the briefing session (2nd last event) which had something to do with tourists saying that my assessor had said:

'Do you have far to go/travel home today? I can't tell you how you did. We (the assessors) don't even meet at the end of each day as we once used too'

.. which gave me lots of confidence (not) for my interview , which was last on my timetable..

Of course, I only found out that assessor said the same thing to *everyone* he assessed on the day but only after my interview..!

Now all I have to worry about the 1st FCO assessment :s-smilie:

In the meantime, I am filling in all the forms for the pre-appointment checks..

so ... two days to go then. i started another grad job a month ago that i applied for about a month after applying to the faststream - it's really weird because i want to either pass and then know that i'm quitting this soon(ish) or else fail and then be able to properly commit to my job! can't wait for my stress levels to fall, either way - bring on the results.
Won't we have to wait until Friday? It seems like all the results so far have come out on a fri, though I suppose it might be different as this is the final lot.

If the last FSAC is on Monday, I would give them 2 days to finish marking and uploading those results (i.e. when I took mine on the 7th April - I got my pass result on the 9th)

I suspect the Cabinet Office would then need to hold 'a meeting' to decide on the 'final' pass mark at which they would look at how many Fast Streamers they want this year (they always pass more than the number of known vacancies) and then set the bar according to that, after having considered the 'distribution' of the marks.. - though this meeting would take place ASAP I suspect.. so Wednesday/Thursday at the earliest for everyone results.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting..

The 'pass' notification includes the following:

Your placement will be subject to the satisfactory completion of some pre-appointment enquiries that now need to be commenced. We advise you not to resign from any employment until you have received a formal offer of appointment from a department. If you give information which you know is false, or you withhold any relevant information, this may lead to your application being rejected or, if you have already been appointed, to your dismissal.

I gather these checks, followed by finding and starting at a department (who make the 'formal' job offers) can take several months.

The notification also says:

Please ensure that you have contacted your referees in order to confirm that their details are still current and to let them know that a request to complete a reference will be sent to them shortly. Details of any changes to referees should be provided and you will need to include their name, address, telephone number and (wherever possible) e-mail address. If you do not wish us to contact your current employer at this stage, but did not state this when completing your application form, then please advise us immediately
(my bolding)

I suggest anyone who doesn't want their employer contacted atm and hasn't already told the Civil Service tell them immediately they are told they have passed... by the time (a couple of days) I told my referees to let them know they would be asked for a reference - I was told they had already been contacted!

They didn't waste any time..

Hope I get something! oh icanteachyouathingortwo (and anyone else in the same situation) you said you've got the job of your dreams since you had your FSAC... would it be possible for you to withdraw your application? Just to help the rest of us! everyone gets the report so wll find out how it went (that will be an interesting read, I didnt think mine went well but they haven't chucked me yet)

I'll be withdrawing my application as soon as I hear (if I am successful), but after all these months of waiting, I need to know the outcome!

no results as yet. the last few times that they've narrowed the amber band they seem to take the message down the previous day or so. presumably it'll now be tomorrow or wednesday.
I Hate Waiting!

I Hate Waiting!

Tell me about it. My FSAC was one of earliest and I'm amber banded.
Pretty much intolerable! Anyone else reached the stage where they can remember their password from having logged on so frequently????
I am so fed up of waiting now!! I applied back in September, that's 10 months! I've already been rejected from the FCO, so I know my marks can't be that great, but I still need to know for sure...think I need to take the internet cable out of my laptop so I can't keep checking all day long...argh. Does anyone else find it really frustrating that we made it so close to the end and still might not get jobs? I was told that 15,000 people applied, so I guess to still be in at this stage, maybe I'm in the top...600? Unfortunately being one of the best rejects still makes you a reject :frown:

Even if someone doesn't make the FCO board, I don't think that means their marks were necessarily bad - remember the FCO only considers the top 100 people who have listed the Diplomatic Service as their 1st option.

Re: applications this year - according to this, there were 15,362 applications just for the General Fast Stream

From looking at the annual Fast Stream recruitment reports that the Cabinet Office publish each year - I am guessing that over 25,000 people registered but 10/12,000 decided not to proceed after the self assessment practise tests and do the 'real' online one (which is what they now officially count as an application)

When I went to the test centre a few weeks ago, I was told that there were less than 900 people going to the FSAC this year (I assume that is for all options - not just the General Fast Stream)

Looking at those reports, some options have a much greater degree of success like the specialist economist one.. it will make interesting reading when this years report is out.

One of the problems is that you have no idea how many people, they plan to recruit each year - the number seems to vary quite a bit!
I applied in september and had my FSAC in Feb, so this is getting a little silly now. I don't have any other options for jobs and so will have to re-apply in september if this does'nt come up. Therefore I'm very nervous and need to know just so I can move on! I really hope they don't make us wait till friday!

Im guessing the results update will be sometime after midnight tonight (updates seem to be in the middle of the night)
I also think I'm going to start self harming if I don't know by tomorrow morning... :s-smilie:

Last update I had (when I found out I had qualified for the FSAC) was at just gone 5pm, so keep obsessively checking!!!

Yeah I've been unsuccessful too :frown: oh well, bring on next year!
I'm sorry guys :frown: I've had nothing yet, but I guess it's only a matter of a few minutes until I hear in that case. Don't forget how well we all did to get to this stage!! It's promising for if you want to apply again.
I was successful
I'm sorry to those of you who were unsuccessful though :frown: I guess all you can do is try again next year.
Has anyone had their feedback reports yet? Mine still isn't up.
Congratulations...aren't you declining it anyway though? Can I have your place?!

I've heard nothing. They've forgotten me!
